This flagship cultural facility of the Vallée de la culture of the Hauts-de-Seine, will open on the Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt in April 2017. 170 million euros have been invested in this one-of-a-kind project in France and Europe, built under PPP. Designed by architects Shigeru Ban (Pritzker Prize 2014) and Jean de Gastines, it won an MIPIM Award in 2015 in the category “Best Project of the Future”, awarded during the international professional real estate trade fair. The Seine Musicale
will house an auditorium with 1,100 places boasting exceptional acoustics, a large performance hall (4,000 to 6,000 places), areas for musical training in residence – Insula Orchestra directed by Laurence Equilbey and the Maîtrise des Hauts-de-Seine, the children’s choir of the Opéra de Paris -, as well as rehearsal and recording rooms. It will also contain restaurants, cultural businesses and a corporate section.
“All musical forms will be explored” according to Jean-Luc Choplin, Chairman of the Programming Committee and artistic management of STS Évènements.
